Are the instructor qualified?
|
|
The Instructors and Jumpmasters are all qualified and
certified by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Malaysia,
who is the governing body for the sport. Each of them has
accumulated more than thousand of jumps and have been in the
sport for more than 20 years!
|
|
What does the training consist of?
|
|
The student gets 4-5 hours of ground training at the center
and 2 hours at the drop zone. The student will be taken to an
altitude of about 3,000 feet for the jump. The jump itself
consists of a simple "poised" exit from the strut of a small
single engine Cessna aircraft. As the student falls away from
the plane, the main canopy is deployed by a "static line"
attached to the aircraft or Instructor Assisted Deployment (IAD).
The student will experience about two to three seconds of
falling as the parachute opens.
|
|
Is It Safe?
|
|
All of the equipment used at Skydiving Center is serviced and
maintained by certified riggers of the highest ratings. The
parachutes are packed by professionals, the reserves packed
and repacked even if unused (it's not only a good idea, it's
the law). Although an inherently dangerous sport, just as
driving a car is an inherently dangerous activity (you did
know that, right?), we take every precaution to assure your
safety while on our drop zone. Do you drive with bad brakes
and bald tires? The student and jump master will be
communicate through a walkie talkie while skydiving.
|
|
What are the age requirements? |
|
Most Drop Zones will require you to be at least 18 years of
age to skydive. Some Drop Zones will allow a person below 18
years olds to jump with parental consent. So, if you are under
18, you can still make the jump, provided you bring along your
legal guardians to the drop zone to watch you perform your
training jump.
On
the other hand, there is no maximum age. Our eldest jumper is
a 59 year old man.
Solo Jump - 18 years minimum.
Less than 18 years - Written parent's or guardian's consent
required.
Maximum Weight - 210 lbs and proportional to height, age and
sex.
Over 50 years - Previous injuries, current or previous medical
conditions must be notified to the Course/Chief Instructor or
Tandem Master prior to commencing a training course.
Previous injuries and previous or current medical conditions
must be notified to the Course Instructor or JumpMaster prior
to commencing a training course.
|
|
What do I get upon completing
the course?
|
You will be given a certificate upon graduating. If you intend
to continue jumping, you are required to obtain a Parachuting
License issued by the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia.
This license which is one time payment and renewable every two
years with a standard price and is recognised internationally.
The license is catogorised into five classes - from a student
license to a 'D' license.

Indoor Skydiving gives you the chance to test your skills of human
flight during a single flight session or as a participant in a
personalized coaching program. Flyaway Indoor Skydiving is a popular
training resource for sport skydivers, competition teams and military
units. Our body flight experience can be your resource for corporate
team-building programs and high adventure recreational groups.
Thousands each year achieve the dream of body flight in America's
first indoor skydiving facility. No experience is necessary, we will
teach all you need to know to body fly indoors. Choose the location
you wish to visit above and receive all the information you may need
to make your trip enjoyable and one you will never forget. The
freefall skills needed for skydiving can sometimes be difficult to
master. At Flyaway, you can train your body to maneuver through the
air with precision, control, and incredible accuracy. Some people have
a hard time learning the basics of freefall. Are you having trouble
with stability? Do you want to improve your turns so that you can turn
faster and stop on heading? Even those who have 100's of jumps can
improve their bodyflight skills by training in a wind tunnel. From

Even those who have 100's of jumps can improve their bodyflight skills

offers a 5-Flight Coaching Package for those who are having trouble
with the basics. The 5-Flight Package is self directed. You determine
your training goals and we focus the instruction to help you achieve
your objectives such as body awareness, heading and stability. Not
everyone becomes a world champion after five flights but the
experience gained in the wind tunnel will improve your performance and
confidence for your next jump. The 5-Flight Coaching Package includes
five flight sessions in the tunnel, a video of all your tunnel time,
and personalized coaching between each flight. In Pigeon Forge, the
5-Flight Coaching Package costs $150 plus tax and will take 4 to 5
hours to complete. In Las Vegas our 5 Flight Coaching Package costs
$250 tax included and will take about the same amount of time (4-5
hours). We ask that you call us before you arrive so we can schedule
additional staff for your Coaching Package. For the experienced jumper
you may want to try a Book Of 5 Flights. The Book Of 5 costs $100 plus
tax and includes five sessions in the wind tunnel. If you don't want
to break up your flights you can fly all of your 15 minutes
consecutively. We try to discourage people from pushing themselves too
hard. Think of the highest skydive you've made. Now imagine doubling
or tripling that freefall time in the tunnel. Flyaway Indoor Skydiving
is nothing short of a skydivers playground. Why Skydance? Newest and
Safest skydiving - student training equipment. Newest and Safest Jump
aircraft in California. USPA certified instructors and affiliated
skydiving center. Why Skydive? Puts all your earthly fears into
manageable perspective. Inspires such complete focus of attention,
that all other worries, aggravations and frustrations are forgotten.
Charges you with such energy and spirit, that vitality lost to the
mundane world snaps back with invigorating speed. Inspires freedom of
spirit. Attracts some of the most interesting people on earth. We've
been doing it for so long, that to us, skydiving is just plain fun.
How long will it take to make my first jump? For a tandem, plan 1/2
day For AFF, plan 1 full day What do I wear? Comfortable clothing and
athletic shoes. Can I get pictures of my skydive? Yes, Video and 35mm
stills are available at an additional charge. What will the skydive
feel like? The sensation of freefall is more like flying than falling.
The parachute flight is quiet and inspiring. How will it feel when the
parachute opens? You will definitely know that something is happening,
but few people have complained of any discomfort. What kind of
parachute will we use? The parachutes used are specially designed,
large "ram-airs". A "ram-air" is a high-technology square parachute,
as opposed to the old-style round parachutes. What happens if the
parachute doesn't open? In the very unlikely event that the main
parachute doesn't open properly, there is a reserve parachute in the
top of the container which has been inspected and packed by a FAA
certificated parachute rigger. All of our reserve parachutes are
equipped with the most reliable and modern AAD (Automatic Activation
Device) available, the CYPRES. SkyDance utilizes this system for your
enhanced safety. This is a backup system only. How long does the
skydive last? 15 to 60 seconds of freefall and 3 to 5 minutes under
the parachute. Isn't the landing like jumping off a two-story
building? NO! If that were the case, there would be no skydiving,
because everyone would have broken legs! In the early days of sport
parachuting, landings were sometimes quite hard. The new "ram-air"
parachutes of today allow landings that feel equivalent to hopping off
a step 1-2' high. Will I be scared? Maybe, and maybe not. You will
definitely feel a surge of excitement and anticipation before the
jump...this is a normal part of the experience. During the jump
itself, you'll probably feel a thrill that you've never experienced
before - enjoy it!
